"The mind is a doorway...
...one that you can walk through if you wish."
The group begins to connect with Taelin as they travel to meet Aleksandr. The conference goes well, as the two world leaders like each other. The Archon pledges supplies to Taelin's war with the Western Emperor. The team speaks with Taelin about the Sakari tracking them, and they decide to use one of his moving fortresses (the RSF Endeavour) to fight it. The battle is long and bloody. In the end, Constantine inspires/influences a Savastri (Silmarese special unit) to give his life to kill the Sakari. The soldier dies in Taelin's arms. Taelin declares war on the Sakari and the Western Vae.
The party decides to head to the Wastes, the territory of a long dead (hopefully) Weylanian Warlord. The plan is to execute Operation Armory. The Order must bear weapons, and where better to find them? The team travel to the dungeon, where they speak with Her about the Order. She is clearly the right choice, but she does not want to help. They decide to give Her some time to think. The group reconnects with Briar in New Locria, and he tells them about the world. The Grand Republic has become a superpower, led by Archon Taelin (a brilliant politician and polymath). The group goes to meet him, however, he is agressive and demanding during their first meeting. They set up a conference between him and Aleksandr of the Vae in a month's time. The group travels to Temera to see Algrim and catch up. He has found a child that he thinks worthy of the Order, and has begun the process of training them. Lok stays behind to help. The group travels (again) to Doorstop, on their way to the conference.
After shipwrecking on a small island, the group is intercepted by the Mystic Train. They have a moment to rest aboard the ancient dungeon. Afterward, they arrive in the Wilds, just outside of Heart's Hold. They speak for many hours with Algrim, and Jin/Gyrion (Jin's creation) train with a powerful pyromancer named Lok. Much is discussed with Algrim, but eventually, the team realizes that they cannot rely on the Old Powers to save them. They must create something new. The group decides to form The Order, an organization dedicated to creating an extraordinary person who will defeat the Sakari. Algrim and Lok join the Order, and they even get some assistance from the All-Mage. The team prepares for their new journey. They have much work ahead of them. And even now, the Enemy batter the walls of the Front...
The group encounters several strange things in the Sunlit Lands and arrives at the Eastern Coast. There, as they are building a ship, they encounter a Wenoan named Renshi. He gives them many gifts, and they return the favor. It is not long after that a Sakari arrives, brutally attacking the group. Viva is almost killed. Omyra is slain. The rest are wounded. The group is devastated by the lost, as they escape into the Ocean. The Sakari with the torn robe watches as they escape. It will not stop hunting them. It is only a matter of time...
Sevaleion, Viva, Omyra, and Jin recover from their ordeal during the New Moon. Jin and Sevaleion embark on a project to use pyromancy/Weylanian magic to create life. They succeed and produce a new life. Meanwhile, two travelers from the Elonas arrive at the Front. They are a young woman named Eleanor (or El) and her older brother Constantine (who is a Vae). They are pursued by a furious Vae Emperor, however, Traliard assists them. The Emperor's Vae continue their pursuit, and attack the Last City in a small ambush. However, instead of capturing El and Constantine, the Vae kidnap Jin and his new creation. The Emperor is intrigued by his new stock until Aleksandr arrives and routes the Emperor. He is creating a new type of nation, where Vae and humans work together. A council is created (Aleksandr, Ajax, Sevaleion, the rest of the group) to talk about the future of the Outlands. They decide to send a group to the Wilds to speak with Algrim.
The group departs for the Sunlit Lands, the fastest way to the coast. There they encounter a powerful illusionist, who turns out to be a demonic creature named Daka. He claims that they don't understand the Sakari or Algrim. He points out that Algrim is not the hero they have been led to believe, and that the Sakari aren't just mindless monsters. Using his painted pyromancy, Jin manages to call Algrim from the Wilds, where he is tested and questioned in front of Daka. Much is learned. Much is kept hidden. As the team enounters Traliard, a sorcerer suddenly appears. This powerful Ritualist (Lykos) is furious with Traliard, and wishes to destroy him. Traliard attacks the group and uses Omyra to escape. They begin to track him north. On the way, they encounter a battalion of Durodin, led by Qu. He is pleased that they aren't bandits, and escorts them to the United Front: a northern outpost holding off the Sakari. After some quick travel, the team arrives at the Last Weylanian City, and learns about the Front. Every New Moon the Sakari attack the Front, and the allies drive them back. The Duro are aligned with Weylanians, Vae, and Temerans. The group meets Ajax, noble leader of the Duro. They also meet Walter of Temera and Galahad of the Vae. The group tracks Traliard and Omyra down to an abandoned Weylanian mansion. Omyra is alive (barely) and Traliard escapes once again. He says he will see them during the New Moon.
The group prepares for the New Moon. Jin connects with Sevaleion and Viva, two Weylanians at the Front. Fiona connects with Galahad, and learns to fight like a Vae. The group splits in two: Jin, Robespierre, and Qu go to fight outside the gates, while Omyra, Sevaleion, Walter, and Fiona go defend the Meditation Chamber (where the magic defenses of the Front are kept up). The New Moon is brutal. Many fall outside the gate. Viva has snuck out to fight with Jin, and they combine magic to summon an anchient ally... In the Meditation Chamber, Traliard has brought a Sakari, who massacres the defenders. Fiona nobly gives her life to defeat the monster. Traliard escapes. Dawn rises on a mountain of corpses... And yet the Front still stands. Omyra, Robespierre, Gin, Fiona, and Deren emerge from the dungeon into Vae Battena territory. They immediately are apprehended by a Vae named Aleksandr, who is very interested in "wild game," especially mages. He points out that not all Vae are as interested in humans as he is (he allows his human stock great freedom) and proposes that they stay a year and a day with him. He will gain the prestige of keeping wild mages in his stock, and in return, he will escort them through Vae territories. The party agrees.
The year and a day pass pleasantly, all members of the party training and practicing. Aleksandr particularly enjoys feeding on the pyromancer, Gin, who uses his enhanced pyromancy to create some incredible works... Fiona decides to learn Vae magic and completes a ritual with Aleksandr to take some of his Vae being, in exchange for some of her humanity. The group departs from Aleksandr's Settlement in good spirits and travels far to the north. They encounter a number of manticores and are hunkering down in a blizzard when they encounter a stranger... He introduces himself as Traliard. Gin, Fiona, Robespierre, Omyra, Slyvy and Deren head into the dungeon. They face tradgedy, monsters, demons, armies, and the Warp. Slyvy falls in battle, and the others come close to death themselves. In the end, a curse is broken, and a simple life is achieved. After losing much, our battered heroes trudge forth from the pits they have conquered. Before them... a new world.
While Fiona, Briar, and Omyra travel onward, they encounter Gin, a pyromancer painter. They continue on, but the train is stopped by a mysterious magic. The group is trapped in the dream of a tormented Maker (a young girl) and barely makes it out alive. They travel to New Locria, and spend time enjoying the culture there. Fiona encounters a singer (Lilian) and puts on a concert. Fiona hires the greatest dressmaker in the world and pays him a lot of money to make a dress for Lilian. The concert is... world changing.
The group goes the Guild base in New Locria. They meet Slyvy, a Reincarnate. She plans a mission through a dungeon beneath the Flats to get to the other side. They need backup though. Gin travels to Triniton (the nearest Republic city) to meet an old friend... Robespierre. He is a leader on the Black Market and agrees to help in the dungeon. Coal and Fiona are tight on talents. After hearing about a spree of murders carried out on railway workers on the Rubin Line, they take jobs as Hunters. The line is attacked again that night by a strange creature, however they are warned of the attack by a woman with golden skin crossing the Outlands. This woman (Omyra) turns out to be a Maker (or Weylanian in her tongue). The group decides to do something about this creature (a Vae) and therefore travel to Vandeveren (capital of the Giants) so that they can learn what to do.
They travel to the Giants and learn about the Outlands, and how the best way to deal with the Vae Battena is to find other tribes of Vae Battena (commonly called vampires) to defeat them. They decide to go the Cartographer's Guild base in New Locria by train, to find a way across the Flats. As they are going to the station they are attacked by Black Market Hunters. The group prevails, and with Omyra's magic, Fiona manages to turn in the bounty on *herself* for one million talents. The group leaves for New Locria. Our heroes begin their journeys in seperate places. Coal (a young mage smith) and Isa (a pyromancer fleeing from Voiciera) strike out from Patchwork for adventure. Fiona (daughter of Dylan) and her dog Deren (a thief accidentally turned into a dog at some point in the past) live in Tellas, captial of the Grand Republic.
The group meets when Fiona's father (Dylan) is kidnapped by a group of strangers. She is attacked too, but escapes. The group meets up at a bar (the Greedy Goblin) and meets a musician there, Briar Button. They decide to travel to the Frontier. The group takes a train (courtesy of Eugene Eigner) and arrives in the small town of Doorstop. Fiona starts a business, and goes massively in debt to a necromancer. The group tries to pay off this debt by hunting down some members of the Summoner Cult, but realize they have bitten off a bit more than they can chew... Chapter 1 - Doorstop
Chapter 2 - Girl from the Outlands Chapter 3 - Spirits, Singers, and Strategies Chapter 4 - A Girl and A Dungeon Chapter 5 - A Year and a Day with the Vae Chapter 6 - The New Moon The group meet Alexander the Bard, and decide that they must go defeat the mothers. They travel to gather allies (Silmar, Westria, Zindra, Arthur, the Knights) and prepare for a huge attack upon the city of Illium. They use the Planar Blade to teleport within the Walls. The allied army holds off the enemy while Bruno, Prim, Lykos, Arthur, Lysander, Hector, and Emma rush into the Palace of the Moon.
They battle the Mothers and their Horrors. Bruno frees the Bookeater, and binds it to himself. Prim slays the Black Knight. As the Mothers are all but defeated, the group faces down Traliard and the Hell Mouth. The battle is vicous. Bruno slays the Hell Mouth (or wounds it) with the Planar Blade. Traliard is slain, however the idea is transmitted to Arthur, who departs. The group kills the last Mother, and joins the Allies in a huge last stand against the Ashen. With the help of the Cartographer's Guild, they hold off, and the day is one (with the help of Silmar's newly revealed gunpowder). A new world dawns. Westria takes power over the Interior, allowing other provinces to rule as they will. Gunpowder begans to be invented, and our heroes choose different puruists. Lykos goes to Zindra, to discover the ideas of Traliard. Prim becomes the "Hand of the Queen" as the famous Blue Knight. Bruno becomes a bard/expert of the Cosmic Plane. He makes it is goal to learn about the Plague that has infected Westria. All in all, another chance has been bought for the people of Aeva. It will be up to them, if they are worthy of the cost... The group travels with the Prince into the jungles of Voiciera. Their aim is to find Alexander the Bard who has important information for the Prince.
Lykos learns that the Mothers have sent a servant to hunt down the Prince. Indeed, the Black Knight tracks them into the jungles. There is a brutal battle, but in the end the Prince is slain and the Knight gets away. The group is devestated. The line of Illium is over. The group is shocked to see that the Bastard is there in the court of Lord Lariat. Lord Ventris arrests him but everything spirals out of control from there. There is a brutal riot in the streets, and the Westrians arrive to take the city. The Prince escape the dungeons with the help of Lysander, and with the help of Maedra, kills Lord Ventris. The group decides to travel with the Prince who takes them to the small town of Pinewood, on the border between Locria and Utra. There they battle a giant snake, befriend a troll, fish in another dimension, and find a magic sword. Onto Voiciera!
Lykos peruades Dylon and the Baron to be a part of a "Council of Cadria." Prim brings Hector to the Duchess, who persuades him to join a united Westria. Back in Larion, Lord Ventris arrives, intent on destroying the house of Lariat. Bruno escapes with the help of the King, but is attacked by the King's own guards (who actually serve Ventris).
All of the group meet up again in Westria. The council meets and determines that Ventris cannot takeover the house of Lariat. Hector and Dylon prepare to lead a people's revolt, while the Duchess and the party travel down to persuade the noblemen to their cause. Lykos and Bruno split off to save Maedra, who Bruno discovered had been brainwashed magically. Lykos and Bruno discover Traliard in Maedra's rooms. He is using the Hellmouth to "heal" her brainwashing. In the courtroom, Ventris and the Duchess confront eachother. The Duchess seems to be winning, but they are both interrupted as a group enters the hall. The Bastard has returned. Lykos splits off from Prim and Bruno. They head to Larion to convince the Last Lord, while Lykos travels to Coldport to persuade the Bloody Baron.
Prim and Bruno insert themselves at the Lord's court. They learn about his strange "Marriage Games" and Bruno befriends him. A delegation from Ventris arrives at court. Prim sees Cob again and also meets Hector the Smith. They decide to attack the Ventrisian nobles in a suprise ambush. The bloody battle ends with Hector, Prim, and Cob teleporting away to meet the Duchess, while Bruno stays behind to weather the storm. Lykos inserts himself into the gambling scene in Coldport. Using his familiar (Mori) and his skill at Chronometrics, he wins his way up the tables, making more and more money. He eventually catches the attention of the Baron, and represents him at an extremely high stakes game. He wins this game and attempts to persuade the Baron to join Coldport. The Baron does not accept his offer Bruno, Lykos, and Prim leave the Tower to see Zindra under attack. They rush to the scene along with a Westrian girl, and fight off some Ashen Assassins there. Orion is almost slain by them. After the battle, they decide to leave Zindra (after talking with the Guildmaster). They talk with the Westrian girl, who turns out to be the Young Duchess. She offers them a job and the group considers it.
Whilst onboard the Ol' Reliable, crossing the Corridor Sea, the ship is attacked. Lord Ventris and his knights board the ship and take away Maedra. The group despairs and decides to accept the Duchess' offer of work, hoping to avenge Maedra's kidnapping. In outpost the group recovers and enjoys market day. As they settle down for the evening, they are shocking to meet Traliard. He warns them that they are about to get ambushed by the Ashen. The ambush occurs, and the party barely survives. In the aftermath, they travel to Westria and learn more about the plague that dominates their people. The plague has turned the Westrians into the undead. Instead of mourning the curse, the Duchess seeks to take advantage of it, and to conquer/stabilize Cadria. Only two powerful lords stand in the Duchess' way, and it is the group's job to overcome them. "The world is changing... And all of us with it... In a strange moment of quiet, Lykos, Emma, and Prim galivant around Zindra. Lykos and Emma enter the Bizarre Bazar. Prim further explores the mysteries of the Silmarian Training Hall. They all travel with Arthur to a small dungeon in the Outlands. It turns out to be the Double Date Dungeon, which forces Arthur/Lykos, and Prim/Stew to undergo a series of odd trials. In the end they realize that the dungeon is unhappy with its way of life, and they convince it to attempt to be a "real" dungeon.
Afterwards, Lykos, Prim, and Emma speak with Orion and Arthur about the future. And all the while, a storm gathers... |
