"The mind is a doorway...
...one that you can walk through if you wish."
The group begins to connect with Taelin as they travel to meet Aleksandr. The conference goes well, as the two world leaders like each other. The Archon pledges supplies to Taelin's war with the Western Emperor. The team speaks with Taelin about the Sakari tracking them, and they decide to use one of his moving fortresses (the RSF Endeavour) to fight it. The battle is long and bloody. In the end, Constantine inspires/influences a Savastri (Silmarese special unit) to give his life to kill the Sakari. The soldier dies in Taelin's arms. Taelin declares war on the Sakari and the Western Vae.
The party decides to head to the Wastes, the territory of a long dead (hopefully) Weylanian Warlord. The plan is to execute Operation Armory. The Order must bear weapons, and where better to find them? The team travel to the dungeon, where they speak with Her about the Order. She is clearly the right choice, but she does not want to help. They decide to give Her some time to think. The group reconnects with Briar in New Locria, and he tells them about the world. The Grand Republic has become a superpower, led by Archon Taelin (a brilliant politician and polymath). The group goes to meet him, however, he is agressive and demanding during their first meeting. They set up a conference between him and Aleksandr of the Vae in a month's time. The group travels to Temera to see Algrim and catch up. He has found a child that he thinks worthy of the Order, and has begun the process of training them. Lok stays behind to help. The group travels (again) to Doorstop, on their way to the conference.
After shipwrecking on a small island, the group is intercepted by the Mystic Train. They have a moment to rest aboard the ancient dungeon. Afterward, they arrive in the Wilds, just outside of Heart's Hold. They speak for many hours with Algrim, and Jin/Gyrion (Jin's creation) train with a powerful pyromancer named Lok. Much is discussed with Algrim, but eventually, the team realizes that they cannot rely on the Old Powers to save them. They must create something new. The group decides to form The Order, an organization dedicated to creating an extraordinary person who will defeat the Sakari. Algrim and Lok join the Order, and they even get some assistance from the All-Mage. The team prepares for their new journey. They have much work ahead of them. And even now, the Enemy batter the walls of the Front...
The group encounters several strange things in the Sunlit Lands and arrives at the Eastern Coast. There, as they are building a ship, they encounter a Wenoan named Renshi. He gives them many gifts, and they return the favor. It is not long after that a Sakari arrives, brutally attacking the group. Viva is almost killed. Omyra is slain. The rest are wounded. The group is devastated by the lost, as they escape into the Ocean. The Sakari with the torn robe watches as they escape. It will not stop hunting them. It is only a matter of time...
Sevaleion, Viva, Omyra, and Jin recover from their ordeal during the New Moon. Jin and Sevaleion embark on a project to use pyromancy/Weylanian magic to create life. They succeed and produce a new life. Meanwhile, two travelers from the Elonas arrive at the Front. They are a young woman named Eleanor (or El) and her older brother Constantine (who is a Vae). They are pursued by a furious Vae Emperor, however, Traliard assists them. The Emperor's Vae continue their pursuit, and attack the Last City in a small ambush. However, instead of capturing El and Constantine, the Vae kidnap Jin and his new creation. The Emperor is intrigued by his new stock until Aleksandr arrives and routes the Emperor. He is creating a new type of nation, where Vae and humans work together. A council is created (Aleksandr, Ajax, Sevaleion, the rest of the group) to talk about the future of the Outlands. They decide to send a group to the Wilds to speak with Algrim.
The group departs for the Sunlit Lands, the fastest way to the coast. There they encounter a powerful illusionist, who turns out to be a demonic creature named Daka. He claims that they don't understand the Sakari or Algrim. He points out that Algrim is not the hero they have been led to believe, and that the Sakari aren't just mindless monsters. Using his painted pyromancy, Jin manages to call Algrim from the Wilds, where he is tested and questioned in front of Daka. Much is learned. Much is kept hidden. |
