The final battle for Loften was fought. Lives were lost. There were many sacrifices and much heroism. But in the end the Last Weylanian survived. Astra will live rebuild and become strong. When the Gate falls, and the Syndicate marches forth, it will be the Hellmouth that is afraid.
In a bold strike, The Revolutionary Guard and the Deathsquad capture Renault during a dinner with the Carrion Gang. At the same time Reynold’s company defeats a corrupt Commander in the Vale, and prepares to reinforce Loften.
Reynolds, Seresa, and Steven navigate the strange and fascinating Swordsmen culture. They explore the Vale, picking up proteges, and preparing to confront the corrupt Commander Kronos. His vassals attack them while they are traveling by boat along the River, but the company survives. They travel to the Plo lodge, and are promoted. The company stands at nine swordsmen, and they are named thusly:
Lord Reynolds of the 9th Lord Rune of the 9th Lord Brutus of the 8th Lord Kuro of the 8th Lord Luna of the 7th Honorable Seresa of the 6th Honorable Werden of the 6th Honorable Steven of the 5th Honorable Sofia of 4th Benjamin goes to rescue Johnny from the Experiment Zone. He defeats a Corruoted God and convinces Soulsplityer to join the Deathsquad (Ben, Kestrel, and Johnny). Together they cut their way through a squadron of assassins sent for them. The Deathsquad trains up the Kreimark to be tough fighters. Reynolds takes Seresa and Steven to the Vale, meeting with the Namemaker, and sneaking through the Cathedral. They enter the Vale and soon see that the Commander of the local lodge is corrupt. Honourable Kuro of the 5th swears the second oath to Reynolds, and they decide to save the lodge, and raise an army to being back to Loften
The group meets to discuss possible plans to deal with their enemies. They go negotiate with Prudence and get her to come to Loften for a tuor. Riven takes the group to New Etaria to give them the bad news: in a battle with the Hive, Quinn was slain. Lady Oliva knows. They group also speak with Franz who gives his son (Galahad) a letter and tells the team what he knows. When they return to Loften they give Prudence a tour which ends with a session with the Wishing Woman. As they leave Prudence mocks the group for their hapless negotiation. Galahad mocks her in return and she slays him, using poison. She makes the group plead for his life, right before she takes it. Benjamin vows revenge as Prudence walks into the woods.
The whole town is excited for Merry to awaken but is alerted by a huge plume of smoke blotting out the sun. Grimwood has been attacked. Doc Wyatt, Vicar Reynolds, Johnny Soulsplitter, Doven, Sable, and Galahad go on the Annabelle (Wyatt’s ship) to investigate. Everyone in the city is dead. They engage the Carrion Gang there, barely escaping with their lives + Kestrel. The leader of the monks, Leviticus, attempts to “save” them but they are rescued by Reynolds. Sable, Galahad, Merry, Josh, and Steven go to meet the Magus, and make friends with it by way of Merry’s music. They whole town realizes that it is cut off from the rest of the world, and prepares for the worst.
The group, along with Lord Kestrel ambush the members of the Carrion gang. Using Sable’s chronosphere amulet they quickly obliterate the bandits, but the Outlands Monk seems unaffected. He is barely human, as he is a vessel filled with thousands of worms. The group struggles to fight him, but they are saved when Galahad calls Riven. They defeat the monk and head back to Loften, catching up with Riven. They discuss the strange goings on in town and it is discovered that messengers trying to reach the group are being killed. Riven takes the adventurers to the decaying Ancient Magi Library to find a book on the creature in the old well, apparently called a Magus. They fight a basilisk and get the book, learning that the Magus is more neutral than enemy. As Riven leaves to investigate Renault the town is abuzz! Merry is coming! She puts on an incredible performance, and the group celebrate the night away.
The group splits in half. Half go to the ruins in search of Doven/airship parts, while half go to rescue Dominick Jr. Benjamin uses his recorder skills to seduce a gigantic undead goose god to distract the Cartion Gang, while Galahad frees Dominick and Stephen talks eith his brother. The other group, with Doc Wyatt, go deep into the ruins, dodging ancient monks and solving riddles. They go to a place called the Junkyard and go to the Web (a spider based jazz bar). Doven is there, and together they go to the pile of Renault junk, fight a gigantic autaumoton, and get the parts. Everyone meets up in Loften when Lord Kestrel arrives. He asks them about the recent attack and tells them he has some info. With the team together, they observe Renault givin the Carrion Gang weapons, and plan their attack.
Merry A famous Outlands musician, originates from Loften A Hades Knight The Knights of Hades are a mysterious group of Outlands assassins. A group of almost 80 of them attacked Loften for reasons unknown. A Protector moving into combat. Doven A traveler and self described “Finder of Things” The Wishing Woman
And old Learning Hunter who once went by the name of Amar The Grimwood Garrison arrives in Loften. They have a prisoner with them, and Johnny Soulsplitter recognizes them. It is Detective Godfried. Not Godfried. Detective Godfried. Godfried and Johnny catch up and the whole group goes to the Carnival del Banjo to see the Elephant show. The local Protextor (Colonel Keiber) arrives and meets the group. Later that night Steven (Rosy’s son) sneaks out of town to go convince his brother (Robert) to come home. Galahad finds him and takes him home. They decide to go along with the plan, but at a later date. The next night the town is attacked by a group of assassins called the Knights of Hades. The entire garrison is slain, and many Loftoners are wounded or slain. Strange things are learned about Vicar Reynolds, who, after the battle, takes them all to see the Wishing Woman. She tells them many strange and terrible things. Visions of Violence.
Everyone arrives at Loften and gets to know the town! Soon they realize that not all is right. Some horrible daemon lives underneath the old well, and the Carrion Gang (a fearsome group of bandits) prowls the countryside. Loften is prepared for battle, as word is sent to Grimwood to ask for more troops. This new home must be protected.
