The Accords It is the year 199 AA(After Alwen became a Republic). It has been 24 years since the Alliance War, when all the human nations came together to fight the Exalted People’s army of Dwellers and Shae. The second battle of Rebel’s Ford and the Siege of Old Dragonsden were brutal and bloody, but in the end the humans were victorious. Dwelle was occupied by Sudar, and all nations signed the Alliance Accords. The Accords made the Alliance permanent, designed to last for thousands of years to come. All were given a seat at the table, even the occupied and non-human nations. The Shae were even given land to rebuild Sanctuary. The Superstates The Sudari quickly began to examine the advanced Dweller technology, reverse engineering everything they could. Soon they had created their own weaponized zeppelins, known as the Valkyrie class. In a show of good faith to their allies, the Sudari gifted the blueprints for these zeppelins to Alwen. With the help of those blueprints and the infamous General Strafe, Alwen became a major military power. The Coup As Alwen was maturing into a continental superpower Norre was falling apart. To honor his allies and the Alliance Accords, High King Torrig outlawed raiding. There was an assassination attempt on his life and although he escaped, his reign was overthrown. High Queen Fenwen took over, and ordered a massive raid on Alwen. But the Norrens had no zeppelins, and were annihilated by the Alweni Wing Corps. In a show of great strength, Alwen marched its army right to the Norren capitol(Norfolk) and took it. High Queen Fenwen was captured and all her followers slain. Now with a third of Norre occupied Alwen has created a No Man Zone around the remainder of the broken nation. No Norren crosses the border with their life. The Rangers It’s a time of crime and robbery. Bandits swarm the road, armed with revolvers and repeaters. Crime fills the back alleys of every city and drugs flow freely. The Alwen government was overwhelmed by the crime wave so they sought refuge in a famous group of bandit killing mercenaries: Bandit Busters. After a unanimous vote in the Senate, Alwen purchased the Bandit Busters, and put them in charge of cleaning up the nation. In a few years the Bandit Busters were no more. Instead of a small group of trained mercenaries, they became the deadly Ranger Corps. In those early years Grandmaster Jaman discovered a new form of magic. He could move guns with his mind, he could make bullets shift around him, and he was a devilishly quick and accurate shot. Jaman became the first Gunslinger, or Slinger. He taught all the Rangers this magic, and soon they were stopping crimes, killing bandits, and saving villagers. The war on crime had begun, and the Rangers were on the front line. The Merchants When the dragon Aubery came down from the mountains to Alwen, he inadvertently wiped out most of the Alweni noble class. This was the final blow to a weak vestige of the ancient Alweni monarchy overthrown hundreds of years ago. Now there is a new high class: the Merchant Lords. These fantastically rich men and women rule the upper crust of Alwen. They are bankers, Senators, Generals, businessmen, and suppliers with unbelievable power and influence on the world around them. They wear masks of compliance while they fight in the shadows. Their weapons are not armies or heroes, but poison, assassination, and trickery. It is a new age of wealth and corruption.
